The National Universities Commission (NUC) has sounded a strong warning to Nigerians over the activities of 58 fake universities currently operating illegally across the country. The regulatory agency disclosed that these institutions are unapproved, lack accreditation, and are fraudulently awarding invalid degrees to unsuspecting students.
In a public notice issued by the Commission, the NUC cautioned: “For the avoidance of doubt, anybody who patronizes or obtains any certificate from any of these illegal institutions does so at his or her own risk.”
According to the Commission, appropriate law enforcement agencies have already been notified to take necessary action against the operators of the fake universities.
