Earlier this week, a powerful story emerged from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka — one that exposes the heartbreaking reality of Nigeria’s broken priorities.

The Dental Students Association made an urgent appeal for ₦40 million to upgrade their lab facilities, a necessary step in their re-accreditation process. While most leaders remain silent or oblivious, former presidential candidate Peter Obi took action.

Out of respect for the national mourning period for the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Obi delayed his response. But the moment it ended, he visited the university and donated ₦15 million — a bold show of leadership in support of education and healthcare.

“We cannot, in good conscience, continue to allow our young people to suffer due to leadership failure,” Obi said.
